Eco-friendly clothing tags and labels 

Apparel manufacturers, retailers and brand owners who want to reduce the impact of their businesses on the environment can now choose from a range of sustainable tag and labels for apparel. Avery Dennison Retail Information Services told Eco textile News it has launched a new Environmental Stock Offering, which consists of 45 coated and uncoated eco-friendly stock samples in different textures and finishes from paper manufacturers worldwide.

The samples indicate whether the stocks are Recycled, Green Seal Certified, Chlorine-Free Certified and/or Green-E Certified. Each sample book page presents essential information for product selection, including lead time, price, and availability in other colors and weights.

According to Alexandra Brownfield, director, exterior identification and data solutions for Avery Dennison RIS, the book is unique in the fashion retail industry. “We are the first to print a standardized tool for evaluating and selecting environmentally sustainable paper stocks,” claimed Brownfield.

Avery Dennison RIS says it is making it easier and faster for its customers to select and specify eco-friendly tag and label stocks that are available in many apparel producing regions worldwide.

“Going forward in 2007, we will also offer for all printed tags C1S and C2S base sheet that have been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council for responsible forest management," concluded Brownfield.
